A "Heritage" kind of day

Iowa Interstate's heritage unit, 513, readies to cut away from its train to pick up IAIS 715 from the yard.

After picking up IAIS 715(GP38-2), the all-stack BICB15 departs Iowa City, passing by the former Rock Island depot.

Back in Cedar Rapids and the wait was worth it as UP 1996 runs elephant style with three other units in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Eagle Watch 2014-9

Seen this Bald Eagle on a tree limb near the Mississippi River north of LeClaire, Iowa while out waiting on a southbound run-thru train.

Quad Cities Area railfanning

Before deciding on going to the Quad Cities, I got some "ghostly" reminders of the Rock Island past north of Solon, IA.

Heard a track warrant get issued for a NS 6565 south on the Canadian Pacific Davenport Sub back in Comanche, IA. So I settled in to wait at LeClaire but then decided to see a better spot. Settled on this backroad north of Princeton, IA for the catch.

The PECR was in Silvis Yard with a lone ES40DC for power, NS 7543......

.....the other two units were serving as DPU's on the east end of the yard while the CBBI09 waits to head east to Blue Island.
